Wisconsin Heights Youth FootballWelcome to the 2009 Wisconsin Heights Youth Football Season! Contained in this packet of information are important dates and activities that surround the Wisconsin Heights Youth Football Program for this year. Please visit the Dane County Area Youth Football League website for schedules and standings.
Registration – Tuesday, May 12th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Middle School Step Room Complete Wisconsin Heights Youth Football (WHYF) and Dane County League Registration forms and pay registration fee. Forms are available in advance at Mazomanie Elementary and the Middle School offices. Registration fees: $95 for first child, $150 for two children, and $200 for three children. Registration forms and fees should be completed and turned in on registration night or mailed to: WHYF, Sandy Orcutt, 10810 Howard Trail, Mazomanie, WI 53560. Registrations received after June 8 will include a $25 late fee: $120 for first child, $175 for two children, and $225 for three children. Youth Football Camp – July 27th – 29th from 6:00 –8:00 pm Wisconsin Heights head football Coach Joe Marx, his staff, and players will again be holding a Youth Football Camp at the Wisconsin Heights High School. Coach Marx will be sending out more information regarding registration details, and fees or you can call him at 767-2586 with questions. Registration for camp will be on July 27th at 5:30 pm. Equipment Hand Out/Required paperwork turn-in for grades 6th -8th will be after Youth Football Camp, see below schedule Location: New athletic storage facility at the school, north of the football fields. 8th Grade- Mon, July 27th 7th Grade- Tues, July 28th 6th Grade, Weds, July 29th Equipment Hand Out for 4th and 5th Graders, August 11, (first night of practice) at 6:00 PM Location: New athletic storage facility at the school, north of the football fields. Required Parents Meeting /Paperwork turn-in for 4th Graders - Tuesday, July 28th in the Middle School Step Room at 6:00PM Parents will get a chance to meet the coaches for 4th grade. Coaches will explain their expectations of the players and the parents.
List of Required Paperwork 1. Two copies of the player's birth certificate - new players only 2. Physical card (see physicals section) - new players and usually 4th, 6th and 8th graders need new physical cards. Paperwork must be to your coach prior to weigh-in or you will not be allowed to participate per the Dane County League rules. Physicals Physicals are required every two years. Players are not allowed to play in scheduled games or scrimmages until physical cards are turned in. Your doctor’s office should have the green physical cards, the Middle School office has cards or you can print the WIAA physical card off the WIAA website at: http://www.wiaawi.org/forms/formsindex.html. Contact Sandy Orcutt at 795-2819 if have any problems getting a physical card. Practices – First Practice Tuesday, August 11th Practices are usually scheduled from 6:00–8:00 pm at the Wisconsin Heights Middle School every Tuesday and Thursday or at the coaches’ preference. Each team’s coaches may decide to alter the number of practices and times etc… there are league rules about the number of practices that can be held prior to the first game and once school starts. As the season progresses, practice times will be adjusted for earlier sunsets. The first three practices of the season are “helmets only” so your child will not need to wear their pads. Pictures – Team and Individual Pictures, Tuesday, September 15th Players should come wearing their game jerseys over their shoulder pads, black game pants including pads and have their helmets available for the pictures. Bring practice jerseys to change into for practice following pictures.
Weigh-In – Saturday, August 29th at MATC-Truax Campus The Dane County Youth Football League requires each player that participates in the football program have his or her weight recorded. Team times will be announced later. Weight Limits – For safety reasons, players exceeding the listed weight for their grade receive a star for their helmet and are limited in the positions they are allowed to play. 4th grade = 95 lbs 5th grade = 105 lbs 6th grade = 115 lbs 7th grade = 130 lbs 8th grade = 150 lbs If you are unable to make the August 29th weigh-in, the alternate date is August 20th at the Bishop O’Connor Center, 6-8PM. HOWEVER, per Dane County League rule, you WILL be required to pay $30.00 in order to have your child weighed.
Games – Season Opener Saturday, September 12th Game schedules are established by the Dane County Youth Football League and are given to the individual programs the week after weigh-in. The schedules are then distributed to each player. If you do not receive a game schedule, please contact your coach. Youth Football Night – Friday, September 18th Youth Football players are encouraged to attend this home varsity football game where they will take part in the opening player introductions and be recognized out on the field at half time. Players should be in their game jerseys (no pads or helmets). Prior to the game there will be a Punt, Pass and Kick competition sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Equipment Turn In – Saturday, October 31st Equipment turn in will be on October 31st from 9:00 – 11:00 am at our storage facility or return to your coach. Please wash the jerseys and pants and wipe off the helmets before they are turned in. Jerseys are turned in to make sure they are not lost, worn or faded. Wisconsin Heights Football Clothing Players and fans will have ONE opportunity to order Wisconsin Heights Football fan gear. Order forms will be distributed during registration and equipment handout.
