Albert Einstein said "we can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."
We can put this logic to work resolving the issues our great schools are facing.
n Our district has committed to address the challenges of scheduling and students assigned to multiple study halls instead of academic classes. Seeing the need, community member Jackie Helmenstine volunteered to use her expertise in quality improvement to do a process analysis study on how students schedule their classes. Businesses pay thousands of dollars for these types of studies, but our district has been offered these services for free to help solve this problem once and for all.
n The governor of Ohio has appointed a 35-member panel to figure out how to reform school funding. How can we urge our governor to do the same?
n In Dunlap IA, the school and city share a public library to cut costs and bring the community and school closer together. Florence, WI has done this also.
n When the school is unable to offer the class a student needs/wants, schools in both Missouri and Connecticut offer that student an independent study class in the library so they can take the class on-line.
Innovative thinking, innovative solutions.
We know the people in the Wisconsin Heights school district have the ability and the “new kind of thinking” needed to generate the ideas to sustain our quality local schools. In the coming weeks Vanguard Pride will be asking for your ideas. Share your thoughts and expertise. As Ben Franklin said “the one who achieves makes many mistakes, but never makes the biggest one of all.. doing nothing.”
Be part of the solution.
